Scottish artist Amanda Dowie, Kilkenny

Originally from Edinburgh, Scotland, I have been living in Ireland since 2004. I have no formal training in the arts and only started painting in 2013 after a Yogi suggested that my cynical self could be much happier if I stopped denying my creative side!

I will paint anything that captures my imagination or inspiration; my first love being sea-scapes. I really enjoy exploring and playing with colour and rather than recreating a pretty scene, I try to capture energy which tends to produce a more contemporary look.
