Anne Harnett has drawn and painted nearly all her life. Her oil and watercolour paintings are suffused with soft l ight. Her subject matter is varied and includes street scenes, landscapes and seascapes, often incorporating recognisable figures (such as children and couples) reflected in water into commissioned paintings. These personalised paintings are very popular commissioned gifts for weddings and other occasions.
Anne Harnett has had more than twenty years in the field to date. She has studied with accomplished artists, including Hazel Soan, Ann-Marie Bourke, John O'Connor, Mary Crowley, Nigel Little and Dutch artist Yanneka. Like most artists, Anne continues to be a student of art, always reaching for a higher level of excellence. Anne combines her passion for painting and her love of photography, capturing the mood and atmosphere of a particular scene, whether painting vast open areas or intimate spaces, she finds that capturing light and colour is best accomplished through close observation. She has travelled frequently around Ireland and also to France, Croatia and the United States, seeking inspiration and opportunities to paint in the field. Anne is a regular participant in The Arts in Action Festival in Farmleigh, Dublin where she displays her artwork and teaches watercolour classes. She values her teaching experiences as having increased her perspective as an artist.
Anne has recently exhibited in Chelsea Old Town Hall as part of the Parallax Art Fair with participating artists from around the world, and will be exhibiting in New York in May 2014. Commissions gladly accepted, can be done from photographs and shipped worldwide.
