Irish artist Brian Byrnes, Dublin

The Studio is located at 137. Pearse Street, Dublin 2. My speciality is in subject matter are the beautiful works of art that are the classic metre yachts around the world, each with its own history of prices and trophies all designed by the greatest Yacht Designers that have ever lived... they are truly works of art, but art works that are capable of winning races due to the expertise of their owners and designers.

In 2013 I attended some of the French Festivals of the sea around the coast of Brittany, Dournenez and Perros Guiroc on the Rose Coast. I was particularly struck by the savagery of the coast especially around the western tip of Brittany, near Brest. I have tried to imagine the conditions that the French fishermen had to endure among these unforgiving rocky outcrops. It is no wonder that the coastline is dotted with a variety of Phares and hundreds of markers warning of imminent danger. Add to all the reefs lying in wait for the unwatchful eye, there is the constant threat of vicious storms sweeping in from the Atlantic and hammering the coastline.
