Elaine Conneely Art (Download The Catalogue)

Elaine Conneely was born on Long Island, New York. She went to Skidmore College and majored in Art Education receiving a B.A. in 1983. She went on to teach high school art for two years, at Lowville Academy. She then attended Boston University and received a Master's degree in Art Education. She taught high school art for 8 years at Mount Alvernia Highschool. She married an Irish man in 1990, had two children and moved to Galway, Ireland in 1995. Since her arrival here she has been painting and teaching art. First she taught at the Paint Box in Galway for two years. Then she opened her own art school in Inverin, County Galway. She has been teaching all age groups for 12 years. She has also had several exhibitions of her paintings, at the Connemara Coast Hotel in 2006, The Galway Museum in 2008, a permanent installation of paintings in An Cruiscin Lan Hotel for the last two years and various other small shows in local pubs and establishments. Elaine's painting style is representational. Her work is inspired by local landscape scenes, animals and she also does commissions and portraits of local people. Oil paint is her favorite medium because of the earthy tones and thick, impasted textures possible with oils.
