Gerard has taught Art for many years including up to Leaving Certificate level at St. Joseph of Cluny Secondary School, Killiney and Adult Night classes at Newpark Comprehensive School.

Gerard continues to paint on a regular basis, and has many successful one man shows and regularly shows in group exhibitions. Gerard's paintings are in many private collections in Ireland, England and America.

'I am a member of plein eire and paint out of doors on a regular basis. In all of my paintings I try to catch a magic moment in time when the light comes out and creates a beautiful impressionist composition. I am most interested in developing my impressionist painting style and expose my paintings to as wide an audience as possible'.
