Irish artist Ian Wilgaus, Belfast

Ian Wilgaus is a contemporary artist living in Belfast, Northern Ireland. He was introduced to drawing at a very young age by his Granddad who was an artist which greatly inspired him to pick up a pencil and draw.

Developing an interest in capturing the likeness of the people around him Ian became more formalized as the years went on by finding inspiration from artists such as David Kassan, Rembrandt and Lucian Freud.

He is continuously experimenting with different techniques and mediums but always loves the simplicity of using the pencil. "It is a tool that allows me to realise my concepts and helps me to understand the world that is around me". His latest works continues to explore the human condition.

Original artwork, online and Worldwide (since 2000)
