My passion for wildlife art grew from years of observation while exploring
Ireland's magnificent landscape. Wildlife art has an incredible way of bringing
nature indoors and as most of our lives have become so fast paced, it reminds us
of our connection to the natural world.
Living in Kildare, I'm never too far away from the equestrian life. My early
experiences of horse riding left a deep impression that inspired a natural
affinity for equine artwork.
With each painting, I aim to capture a specific moment in time by using rich
vivid colours and textures against deep dark shadows. The subtle tones of the
backgrounds allow the viewer to focus solely on the characteristics of each
subject.
Life, drama, and integrity is essential in every painting. I combine a realistic
likeness of each subject alongside rough abstract textures of a palette knife.
This technique ads an extra dimension to the painting and allows me to create a
sense of movement that I don't achieve through classical realism.
The focus of my work is to capture the spirit and strength of each animal. With
this collection of art, I invite the viewer to stop, take a moment, and
appreciate Ireland's amazing array of native wildlife.
