Irish artist John Lee, Clare

Oil paint is my medium of choice. I paint images or scenes that appeal to me and also commissioned pieces. If its a movie that has resonated with me I will want to capture that in some way. Most of the work I create has been figurative, people interest me as does landscapes. We are intertwined. The conversation between the canvas, the paint and the artist intrigues me.

I am inspired by many artists. George Bellows, an American painter is one such artist who uses the paint so effectively while still allowing the viewer to witness how the paint was applied. This method of painting I prefer and I apply it to my own work. I want to allow the paint to dictate the outcome as much as my own thought process.

A celebration of original artwork, online and Worldwide (since 2000)
