Irish artist John Lee, Clare

My art practice has been one of exploration and many subjects have attracted my eye. I work primarily with oil paint. I work in monochrome and colour. Figurative, landscape and semi abstract are the approaches which I have studied in my paintings. Nature and my connection to it pervade my paintings.

My most recent paintings have been inspired by the Burren. The quiet magic of the place draws me back time and again. The Burren is a fragile place, deep, rough, harsh and welcoming. It has its own personality. I take photos as I walk or swim there and use these as a reference or guide to communicate my deeper experience where words fall short.

Original artwork, online and Worldwide (since 2000)
