Joe Coyne is a retired Chartered Surveyor and is mainly a self taught painter. He started drawing and painting from an early age and lives in Oranmore, Co. Galway. Over the last 5-6 years he has added to his experience by taking a course in Florence at the 'Angel Academy' in traditional techniques as used by Caravaggio.

He also attended a number of short courses at the Royal Hibernian Academy in Dublin. This included drawing marathons, portrait painting in oil, egg tempora, charcoal and pastels under the guidance of some of the countries greatest artists, including, James Hanley, Joe Dunne, Una Sealy, and John Long. He also attended Sam Horlers Workshop course in Clarendon St. Dublin for life drawing and continued with a further 6 week classical drawing course in the style of Charles Borgue.
