Irish artist Mary St Leger, Cork

Mary St Leger lives in Doneraile Co. Cork. She completed her B.A in Painting in the Limerick School of Art and Design. Continuing her studies, she completed her M.A in fine Art in The University of Central England. St Leger's paintings often rely on the dramatic to create a sense of unease for the viewer. Abstract spaces hold random objects within the frame, furniture, crowns, jesters hats. more recently, however, she has introduced the human form to these spaces. These figures almost appear to have iconic qualities and yet dressed in peculiar or theatrical costume that quality changes to one of disquiet.
