I am based in Killarney surrounded by magnificent scenery so it is hardly surprising that my main interest is in Landscape Painting.
Although I have always loved to sketch and paint my background is in the Sciences. However an early retirement package in 2003 has given me the wonderful opportunity to concentrate on my painting. I love to spend time exploring the countryside and my paintings usually begin life as small pieces painted outdoors which inspire my larger studio paintings.
I paint in a traditional manner building up in layers starting with fairly thin paint but gradually adding thicker paint in an impasto fashion with knives, fingers, brushes and whatever is at hand. My style is representational. I am hoping to convey the feeling of being in that special place.
I have had many exhibitions both group and solo. My first solo exhibition in the Frank Lewis gallery in 2007 was a sell-out. My work is to be found in private collections worldwide.
