German artist Patricia Power, Germany and Cork

I was born in Aschaffenburg, Germany. Already as a child I really enjoyed drawing and no pencil was safe in front of me. Both of my Parents had artistic skills, my Dad preferred classical art which he painted in oils, and my Mum showed her talent in pencil drawings.

After my years of schooling, I chose an artistic craftwork in a Candle factory with a three year apprenticeship training, which I completed successfully. My work activity was focused on decorating candles, all decorations were made out of wax also wax modelling images and silicone mould making was requested. I worked there for 16 years.

Years later I met my husband and I have been living since 2003 in Beara, West Cork, Ireland. Just a couple of years ago I decided to start painting again. Up until now, I have never published any of my work, but now I finally have the courage to display my work to an audience.

My paintings are mainly acrylic and mixed media, I have a preference for structures and colours. On walks with my dogs I get inspired by nature like shapes, patterns and structures. Painting has a very calming and relaxing effect and it distracts me miraculously from the noise of my tinnitus.
