Irish artist Ruth I McHugh, Galway

I like a painterly style with colours reflecting the mood of the artwork, influenced by photography, but desiring to produce a technique that does not resemble a photograph. My aim is to simplify the image and maintain a loose painterly style that relies on imagination to maintain a free expression of life action and movement. My favourite artists are: Lucien Freud, Jenny Saville, Frank Spenser, Edward Hopper, Edouard Vuilliard, van Gogh, Michelangelo, Cecilia-Danell.

BA Art and Design at the Creative Centre for Arts and Media Galway Ireland. I have exhibited in the RDS Dublin, Muscailt NUIG, Galway 20/20 hub, KAVA Kinvara, East Galway Artists Network, Athenry Library, Tuam Arts Festival and the Galway Fringe.
