English artist Sofia Bury, England and Wicklow

Sofia is an English painter who has been living in Ireland since 1975. She is married and has three adult children.

Sofia is an abstract artist who has been painting for over 40 years. She studied night classes at NCAD and Dun Laoghaire School of Art. More recently she has studied under Tony Kew and at the Ecology Centre, Wicklow. During this time she has contributed to Group Shows and solo exhibitions.

Some of her work is brightly coloured, and others darker representing the different aspects of life. She uses symbols such as the moon, sun, fish, often on a divided page. Sofia neither draws nor takes photos, but allows her paintings to evolve directly on the canvas. She paints from her 'inner' self and has broad interest in meditiation, Celtic Christianity, Buddhism and the Sufis.

Sofia has work in collections in Ireland, England, Australia, America, Canada and a substantial collection of her work in the Isle of Wight.
