Vincent Killowry was born in Ennis, Co. Clare. He studied Art and Design in Galway graduating in 1986. Throughout his career in painting he has worked in many genres including Figurative, Portrait, Seascape, Aviation, Railway, Automotive, and Maritime. Since childhood he has had an interest in technical subjects such as aircraft and railways and he has been drawing and painting these all his life along with many other subjects that interest and inspire him.
In the mid 1990's Vincent's talents as a painter with an attention to detail were recognised by The Irish Postal Service (An Post). He has received many commissions to design Postage Stamps, First Day Covers, Minisheets and Limited Edition Fine Art Prints which commemorate the history of Irish Aviation, Maritime, Railway and Motorsport heritage. To date, An Post have published over 50 of Vincent's paintings and illustrations. Vincent has had many solo exhibitions in Ireland. His last two solo shows were held in Bold Art Gallery, Galway. One to co-incide with the Galway Arts Festival and the other during the Volvo Ocean Race. His current body of work entitled 'Behold the sea' is a celebration of the inspiration the artist has experienced from his own coastline in Co. Clare. This collection of paintings is being exhibited, along with his entire back catalogue of Postage Stamps, in Kenny's Lahinch Art Gallery, Co. Clare for the month of July 2013.
