Tom Molloy, Dublin, Irish Artist

I am based in Dalkey, a coastal village community on the southern side of Dublin Bay. I have been painting for many years. Over the last 6 years my interests have evolved from occasional figurative and portrait work to an ever increasing interest in the stunning sea and huge cloudscapes on the coast near my home, the comparatively tiny but resilient works of man against this background, and in the surface of the painting itself. I am intrigued by the subtle interaction of the geometries of composition, in colour and tone, in surface textures and in the subjectivity of size and other factors. My ambition is to (eventually) combine all of these in a painting which tells the viewer what compelled me to my subject in the first place. In the meantime I hope that some of the enjoyment I found in painting these examples of my work shows.
